Easter at Hanbury
4th April 2021
A fun and frenzied Egg Hunt marked the end of a week of Easter activities at Hanbury!
Every class has been learning about the Easter story, focusing particularly on this term's Christian Value of Forgiveness. We all worked hard to understand what forgiveness is and how it can make you feel fantastic.
We also put ourselves in Mary's shoes and thought of questions we could ask her about what happened when she found the tomb was empty.
Year 2 even showed what Forgiveness can look like by using an "angry" bath bomb in a bowl of love (aka water!). They watched as forgiveness fizzed the anger and hurt away and made the love turn a beautiful colour - it even made the classroom smell beautiful!
Year 1 have been looking for signs of spring around the school and created wonderful digital art with the photographs they took. They have also written some fantastic poems in the style of Christina Rosetti. The detail in their beautiful daffodil art showed how carefully they had looked at the flowers before painting.
Reception have been busy outside - they even got to meet a real Spring lamb! Meanwhile, Year 3 made some super Easter cards.
Year 4 have also been busy with a very special job. They led our Easter Service which reached 70 families via the magic of Zoom! They retold the Easter story beautifully, whilst other classes provided their own take on this very special time of year.
The service ended with a whole school rendition of "Spring Chicken" which we all sang from the safety of our bubbles out on the playground. The song always makes us smile and helps us to remember our treasured Reception Teacher, Mrs Kershaw.
We all took turns to have a wonderful walk up to Hanbury Hall for The Friends' annual Easter Egg Hunt. We were very grateful that they had arranged for the Easter Bunny to come in such difficult circumstances!
Everyone at school hopes you have a lovely Easter Holiday. Spring is spreading positivity on us all and we look forward to seeing you back in two weeks!
