Music Matters at Hanbury!

3rd February 2020

Pupils and staff from Hanbury are singing the praises of kind donors who have given music at the school a real boost!

When Heronswood Primary School in Kidderminster replaced their piano, they wanted their old one to still provide hours of pleasure.

Hanbury’s Music Co-ordinator, Lynn Ball was delighted to provide a good home for it, and thanks to Carl from Bromsgrove Van Hire welcomed it with open (and very strong) arms this week!

Meanwhile, Bromsgrove Ukelele Club has provided lots of brand new percussion instruments – perfect for accompanying Mrs Ball on the piano!

The school are also investing in more tuned instruments, thanks to a donation from the Hanbury Parochial Charity who kindly provide funding for educational purposes.

“Even though we are a small school, we are very proud of the way we work with groups and schools within our local community to provide a really diverse range of opportunities for our pupils,” she said.

The arrival of the piano coincided with the school taking part in Young Voices, where around 40 children joined hundreds of others for an amazing day-long extravaganza, culminating in a performance to a packed Resorts Arena.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of everyone who has helped us, as music is such an important part of the curriculum,” added Mrs Ball.  “I can’t wait to hear the piano being played in our assemblies and singing clubs, accompanied by our fantastic new percussion and instruments!”
