Parent Governor

"We have been impressed with Hanbury School since our first visit when we were looking at schools, its family and community feel and the opportunities it strives to provide to our children.

"When a vacancy arose for a Parent Governor in 2015 I did not hesitate to apply!"
We have been part of the Hanbury School family since my eldest started in Reception in 2013, my youngest is now in Year 4!

We have been impressed with Hanbury School since our first visit when we were looking at schools, its family and community feel and the opportunities it strives to provide to our children. So, when a vacancy arose for a Parent Governor in 2015 I did not hesitate to apply!

I had been made redundant at the start of that year and wanted to make best use of my time and become more involved at Hanbury and this provided an avenue to achieve that.

I have always been active and involved in sport so my redundancy provided a perfect opportunity for a fresh start. I trained as a Fitness Instructor initially to teach group exercise but have subsequently added to my CV and I am now an England Athletics Coach and Multi Skills Coach which has enabled me to coach at Hanbury and other local first schools. I also deliver Inclusivity sports classes and classes for those with long term health conditions.

Outside of work my hobbies are very sport related too! I love to run and have been fortunate enough to run the London marathon twice, via Good for Age entries, as well as other events. I also train with a local Taekwondo club with my two children and achieved my Black Belt 2nd degree last year. It’s brilliant to be able to train and learn with my children and encourage each other. I also coach within the club namely with the junior members which is fantastic.

I also enjoy art and love to paint so get very excited with any art related topic homework!
As well as being a Parent Governor I am also part of The Friends of Hanbury whose fundraising efforts are vital is raising much needed funds to support extra activities and experiences for our children.

I feel very privileged to be part of such an amazing community and will very much miss it as we move onto new schools.
