Planning for September... Scooters

18th August 2020

We are delighted to be welcoming our friends at Scooters back in September.  They provide wonderful before and after school care to a large number of pupils at Hanbury, but due to Covid-19 guidelines, will be running slightly differently from the start of term.

In a bid to ensure the changes are as smooth as possible, Jo and Em are keen to provide parents and carers with the following information, ensuring that there is as little disruption as possible for the children:

*YOUR CHILD'S PLACE AT SCOOTERS MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE... ATTENDANCE LAST YEAR CANNOT GUARANTEE A PLACE THIS TERM*

To minimise contact between parents and staff we are asking contact to be made via email or message via Scooters' Facebook page should you need to chat.

BREAKFAST CLUB:

Children can start arriving from 7.45am, please not before.  On arrival to the school car park please call the Scooters mobile (07588 627801), to alert staff.  They will then collect your child/ren from the school bicycle shelter.  Should there be number a of parents/children waiting, please adhere to the 2 metre social distancing rules as set out by the government.  Parents can then follow the path down onto the playground and exit via the school field.

Children receiving breakfast must be dropped off between 7.45am and 8.15am as breakfast will only be served between these times.  Children will be kept within their separate key stages whilst at Scooters.  Siblings can be dropped off togther.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB:

Children will be separated into key stage groups to minimise contact with others.

Key Stage 1 (Year R, Year 1 and Year 2) will be situated within the Year 1 classroom.  Key Stage 2 (Year 3 and Year 4) will remain in the hall.

Scooters can no longer store lunchboxes for afternoon snack, so a pre-packed snack will be provivded with access to drinks and fruit through out the afternoon as usual.  However, if you would prefer to provide a snack from home please include this in their lunchbox.  It will be kept in their classroom during the day as normal.

Children will be encouraged to hand wash/sanitise at frequent intervals during the afternoon.  For example, when they first come into Scooters, before eating etc.  Should your child/ren be unable to use hand sanitiser please let us know.

As in the morning, please alert staff to your arrival by calling the Scooters mobile number (0758 8627801).

Key Stage 1:  please wait at the bottom of the ramp leading onto the playground and your child/ren will be brought out to meet you.  Then please exit via the field.

Key Stage 2: please wait by/under the bicycle shed and then walk down the ramp leading onto the playground to exit via the field.

Please ensure you adhere to the 2 metre social distancing rules whilst waiting.  We shall endeavour to be swift in bringing your child/ren to you.

All of these procedures are in place to keep all of our Scooters children, families and staff as safe as possible. The quality of play will not be changing.  Of course, all of these new procedures are subject to change as and when the Government advises.

We have missed you all very much and cannot wait to hear all about your exciting stories and news.  We also ask that children do not bring in any toys from home.  However, we do love hearing about them so perhaps you could draw a picture or show us a photo of your favourite toy.

If you have any queries please call, email or send us a Facebook message and we will do our best to reply as soon as possible.

With best wishes,

Jo, Em and the Scooters Team.
