This week the children were interested to learn more about the importance and meaning of the Poppies we wear and see for Remembrance Day. As a class we discussed the sacrifices soldiers took to allow us to live the way we do today. The children used descriptive language to discuss how the soldiers and families may have felt during and after the war. The children then took part in a series of creative activities making poppies out of different materials such as paint, card and playdough.

During Maths we have looking at one more. The children have been using their counting and comparing skills to find one more than numbers up to 6. We have encouraged the children to use a tens frame to represent numbers and then make one more. We want children to start making the link that one more then a number is the next number they say when they are counting.
