Reception News: 14th June 2018

14th June 2018

Star of the Week: Taryn
Mathematician of the Week: Bentley
Writer of the Week: Jack
Values Champion: Avhin

We have had a busy 2 weeks!

Phonics:  We have nearly come to the end of phase 4 and we have decided to split the children up into 2 groups so we can really focus on the areas that the children need support with.

Please could you help your child by practicing reading and writing tricky words.

Literacy: over the past 2 weeks we have been looking at the traditional tale The Gingerbread Man. We created our story maps and have now innovated them. The children have started writing their stories and are producing some lovely writing using their phonic knowledge to help them spell.

Maths: we have been doubling, halving, combining and sharing over the 2 weeks. The children have showed some good understanding and using some mathematical language.

In forest school we have been sorting our garden area. We found some potatoes that children in previous reception classes had planted. The children said that they would like to plant some vegetables, plants and herbs so we will be looking to that over the next couple of weeks.

Please can I remind parents to keep reading and to bring red books in everyday (except forest school days). This is so we can keep track of the children’s reading and record any messages that we may need to send you.
