Reception News: 14th March 2021

14th March 2021

It has been really refreshing welcoming the children back to school this week. They have settled beautifully, and it already feels like we were never apart. This week we have focused on settling back into a routine, spending time together and building relationships. We have also enjoyed spending a bit extra time simply talking and listening. The children have been so excited to tell Mrs Mol and I about all the great things they have been doing and we have really enjoyed hearing about their individual adventures too.

Earlier in the week, Mrs Holman introduced the children to Super Suzie. Super Suzie’s superpower is to turn simple sentences to super sentences. We discussed how we can make our own sentences even better. The children were given a simple sentence and came up with their own ideas on how to make it a super sentence. They also rehearsed their super sentence verbally 5 time before writing it. Reception have amazed Mrs Holman with their sentence writing and have been keen to demonstrate this during their ‘explore and learn’ time as well as during focus activities.

In the garden the children have enjoyed the chance to explore the environment again. They have enjoyed having the opportunity to plant seeds and bulbs independently, as well as searching for worms and making mud pies.

On Thursday, Reception released some energy during their first Stellissa PE session. We packed our bags and travelled to Africa on an aeroplane, where we drove a jeep and spotted zebras, flamingos, giraffes and elephants.
