Life in Reception is always filled with fun, laughter and new experiences.
This week we were excited to observe a change in our beans and we noticed that they have started to germinate. We hope it is not too long until we can climb those beanstalks to visit our friendly pen pal Giant Sam!
As a class we have been learning the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ using a story map and actions to help us remember key parts of the story. The children are beginning to know the story very well and have started to create their own written story books retelling the story. I look forward to sharing the final products once they have finished.
In Maths we have been exploring money. We enjoyed using our sweet shop to help us understand the concept and use of money. Each child had the opportunity to handle real money, look around the shop and decide what they would like to buy. The children looked at the prices on the items and then counted out the correct amount they needed to buy the item. Some children were kind enough to offer money to other children if they didn’t have enough to buy what they wanted. Great problem solving!
We had PE in the beautiful sunshine again this week, and we were learning how to serve in tennis. The children worked well with their partners taking it in turns to practise the new skill. Mrs Holman also heard the children giving each other lots of words of encouragement which was really lovely to hear.
On Friday the children set off on another Forest School adventure making it all the way to the Jinny Ring again. Once the children arrived, they played hide and seek, made dens and drank hot chocolate.
