In reception this week we have been revisiting all our phase 3 phonic sounds. There are still a few that we struggle with but the children can continue to practise these at home using the sound mats that were given at parents evening.

In literacy, the children have been writing their stories about The Very Hungry Caterpillar. These have been amazing as the children are now beginning to apply their phase 2 and 3 phonics. We have been making sure that our sentences make sense and to say are sentences before we write them.

In maths, the children have been learning about time. We have been exploring the language around time and comparing minutes to days. Which is shorter? The children have also been using clocks when learning to tell the time. We have been mainly focusing on o’clock.

We have also been practising our performance for church next week. The children have really enjoyed practising this one and you will soon see why!
