We ended our gingerbread topic last week with a gingerbread hunt around the school grounds. We had to read the clues and hunt the snacks down. We then all enjoyed a gingerbread snack with hot chocolate and a sing song in the outdoor classroom.

This week the children have been excitedly preparing for Christmas. We have read ‘The Christmas Story’ and we are learning all about the true meaning of Christmas. Unfortunately, this year we are unable to perform a Nativity. However, that has not stopped us from playing in some of the costumes and having a sing and dance.

The classroom is looking beautiful and has been filled with the children’s glittery snowflakes, Christmas stockings and twinkly lights. Also, a big thank you to one of our parents who has made our fantastic Christmas door design.

In Maths this week we have continued to practise, apply and secure our subtraction skills. Our favourite activity was girls verses boys subtraction Lego. Each team starts with a tower of 10 or 20 bricks and when someone from the team rolls the dice the children subtract that many bricks from their tower. The winning team in the first team to get rid of all their bricks.
