It was lovely to greet the children back to school on Tuesday after their first half term break. They have all been eager to share their holiday experiences and have all produced a fantastic piece of work in their writing book all about it.

As a class we have been excited to discuss and share our experiences of fireworks. With bonfire night this week we have had fun creating firework art, making firework songs and dances, and observing a science experiment involving fireworks in a bottle. The children excel during practical, hands on opportunities and have really impressed Mrs Holman with their curiosity and ability to apply their learning.

The children are progressing well on their phonic journey. This week we are starting phase 3 but are continuing to practise and apply our phase 2 phonic knowledge daily.

During maths we have looked at different ways of representing numbers using countable items such as counters, small world toys, dice, numicon and dominoes.

Today was Reception’s first forest school experience with our forest school leader, Mrs Pincher. The children couldn't wait to get their wellies on and get stuck in the mud. I look forward to hearing all about their adventures!
