Shooting star of the Week: Lorianna

Year 1 have been working on with a theme of ‘teddies’ this week. We learned a story about a bear called Brian who invites his friends to a picnic in the woods. Unfortunately his friends get stopped on the way and have to keep giving their picnic food to animals in need... luckily Brian came prepared with lots of extra food and the picnic is a great success!

The children used paper weaving to make picnic blankets for Brian, created a teddy zip line and tested out different materials to see which was the quickest, drew maps of the forest, completed story quizzes and lots more! They also did some great maths work on comparing numbers, learned the ‘sticky I’ sound (-tion, -sion, -cian) and completed the Worcestershire school games catching challenge. It was an exhausting week and with all the wet, dark, chilly weather on Thursday we gave up our plans for a walk to the woods and stayed in to watch Aladdin instead.

What a great week - year 1 impressed us so much with their fantastic undertsnding and deep, creative thinking about their work, we can’t wait to see what they get up to next week!
