Year 1 News: 16th March 2018

16th March 2018
Star of the Week:  Logan
Mathematician of the Week:  Amber
Writer of the Week:  Natasha
Values Champion:  Mia
We have had a very full week, topped off with our class assembly which we performed to a packed hall of friends and family!
We told stories to explain what this term's value of 'Forgiveness' means and how we can try to use it in our daily lives.

LITERACY:  This week we have been looking at prefixes and suffixes. A prefix goes at the beginning of the word and a suffix at the end. We have investigated /ing/ and /ed/ as well as /er/ and /est/. These are suffixes that tell us about time and help us compare. We also looked at the prefix /un/, which turns the word into it's opposite.

NUMERACY:  We've been busy counting in 2's and we have found out that it is quicker to count in 2's than 1's. If you start at 0, you only land on the even numbers. Next week we'll be counting in 5's.

Miss Bishop would like to say a big thank you to all of the people who came to watch the Year One assembly. It meant so much to them as they had worked really hard. Thank you for all of the lovely comments that were written. Miss Bishop read them to the children.
