Year 1 have had another ‘beary’ good week this week!
Our work on our Paddington topic is coming along brilliantly. We have learned about a beautiful mountain in Peru called the rainbow mountain, and used chalk pastels to make our own artwork inspired by it. We discovered the top places to visit in Peru, and found out about the capital city, Lima.
In English we have been thinking about how to use adjectives in our work. We thought about Paddington's long journey from darkest Peru and how he had left his Aunt Lucy behind. We decided that Paddington would want to send Aunt Lucy a letter to let her know he had arrived safely.
We researched famous landmarks in London and used them to make beautiful postcards for Paddington to write. We designed bear themed stamps for him to put on the card and found out how postboxes are used to send mail.
The children all wrote absolutely fabulous letters for Aunt Lucy and we are really looking forward to seeing them copied up in their neatest writing on the postcards next week!
In maths we have continued our work on number sequences and spotting patterns on the hundred square. We have found out about how logos can be used to show a sense of belonging in RE, and in PE we are working on improving our throwing and catching skills.
What a week - we had to take a sneaky snack break for ice pops halfway through to give us an extra energy boost! Have a great bank holiday year 1 and we will see you on Tuesday.
