Year 2 News: 20th September 2018

20th September 2018
Star of the Week:  Logan
Mathematician of the Week:  Benjy
Writer of the Week:  Evie
Values Champion:  Amber

Thank you to all the parents/carers who were able to attend the Parents Meeting on Monday.

Literacy:  We met a little dachshund in Literacy this week!  We used expanded noun phrases to describe what Dumpling was like and made LOST! posters to show our understanding of the character.

Numeracy:  We have been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s this week, looking at the patterns the numbers make when they are plotted on a 100 square.  We noticed that there were patterns to the numbers we counted.

Topic:  Everyone has created a character to go on our Great Fire of London topic board - either a baker, Samuel Pepys or a king!

PE:  We are lucky to be learning how to play hockey this term from an expert hockey coach!  We are looking forward to develop our dribbling skills!  To make sure we don't miss out on the sessions, please make sure a full PE kit is in school at all times, including black PE pumps, green shorts, a white t-shirt, grey Hanbury hoodie and jogger bottoms.

We are very grateful for your support with learning at home:

Books have been sent out with homework in this week.  They will usually be sent out on a Wednesday, to be returned by Monday at the latest.  A house point is awarded to everyone who hands completed homework in on time.

We have already had some lovely topic homework in - more house points are on offer for each piece!

Spelling Logs will be reviewed regularly, so keep bringing them in.

5 Times a Reader runs from Monday-Sunday.  1 x house point for 3 reads, 2 x house points for 5 reads.  5 x 5 reads earns a treat from Miss Jones!
