Values Champion (Friendship): All of Year 2 for their wonderful Friendship Assembly!
We were very proud when Mr Payne congratulated us ALL for being Values Champions in Celebration Assembly!
Miss Bishop is amazed at how we've settled back into school and how well we are all progressing - we've worked incredibly hard and are all looking forward to a nice rest over half term.  She was glad she had the chance to let our parents know what stars we are when she met them all on Zoom during the past couple of weeks!
Maths:  We've been using our part/whole knowledge to produce "Fact Families" this week.  We can make different addition sentences and even had a go at using subtraction facts too.  We are working hard to remember where the "whole" number goes and then how to use the "parts" to make the number statement true.
Literacy:  We wowed Miss Bishop with lots of lovely writing this week!  We retold the story of Beegu in our own words using story maps we had created to help us.  Then, we wrote a description of a friend that the inquisitive little alien might like to have.  Finally, we wrote a letter to Beegu back on her planet, telling her how much we missed her.  We made sure we set our letter out the correct way and included lots of appropriate punctuation.
Topic:  Its that time of year... after learning about the Elizabethan period and King James I, we've moved onto learning about The Gunpowder Plot this week - who was involved, what they wanted to do and why.  We wrote our own version of the letter to the Lord Monteagle that warned him not to go to the Houses of Parliament on the 5th November... and which might have just given away the secret... oops!
