Year 2 News: 27th September 2018

27th September 2018
Star of the Week:  Mia
Mathematician of the Week:  Natasha
Writer of the Week:  Oscar
Values Champion:  Lola

Literacy:  After learning and re-writing the start of Dick King-Smith's story, we've been writing our own endings to the tale of Dumpling; a dachshund with a difference!  We came up with lots of ideas, including a plate full of sausages that made her long again and a friend who made Dumpling realise she was amazing just the way she was.  We've tried hard to add detail - some of us have even shown how we can use speech marks.  Miss Jones is very impressed!

Numeracy:  We've been using our near-number bonds to 10 to work out calculations and have been hopping like frogs as we try to spot patterns when we add 2 more, 5 more and 10 more!

PSHCE:  Our current Hanbury School Value is FRIENDSHIP, so we have been helping promote 'Kind Hands, Kind Feet, Kind Words' by designing posters.  Xander and Logan explained that the School Council will choose posters from each class to display inside and outside the building.

PE:  We are really enjoying our hockey lessons on Friday mornings and loved our yoga session on Wednesday!

Guided Reading:  We have been detectives, trying to find answers to questions within the text we are reading.  We are getting really good at reading the question and going back to the text to prove we are ticking the right answer!  Try quizzing us when we read to you - we are getting really good at it!
