Year 2 News: 6th June 2020

6th June 2020
It's been a very busy start to the half term with lots of different activities being completed.
We've been working hard on our numeracy and have continued building on our knowledge of position and direction. We have been thinking about the words clockwise and anticlockwise and what they mean. We then looked at some shapes to see how they had turned. Miss Bishop sometimes got herself a little confused! We have also been trying to keep some important maths skills sharp ready for Year 3. We have been reminding ourselves about our two times table and working on our number bonds to 100. Some of us have also started to learn our three and four times tables. Brilliant job guys.
We have carried on thinking about the story, The Tin Forest. This weeks main activity was to write a short description about a forest. There have been some wonderful pieces of work with some well chosen adjectives. I found myself being transported to different worlds each time I read. Well done. Thank you for all the time some of you are taking to work on the basic skills of handwriting and spelling. These are massively important and the more you practice the easier it will become. Big shout out to Archie and Seb for their continued work on their spelling logs and to Joseph who has finished his Red log.
You are all reading lots of books and I've been keeping a record. Watch out on your Seesaw as I will moving some of you on to some new books in the next week or two. The continued practice is really working so well done and I am very, very proud of you.
Our topic has been based around medieval castles and this week we found out how hard life was for peasants. They had to work really hard for not very much reward. We tried to convince the king how unfair this was!
Mrs Shaw and I are so incredibly proud of you all and miss you very much. Stay safe guys and we will hopefully see you all soon.
