We had a lovely walk over to Forest School on Thursday.  The children used the natural environment to work out fractions, then we drank hot chocolate and played in the wood.

Literacy:  We started the week trying to give instructions to Miss Jones as she wanted to make a jam sandwich.  We had a very strange looking sandwich at first, but then we tried to use clear sentences with 'bossy' verbs and adverbs.  We've been writing up our instructions and have even included words of warning, top tips and pictures to help the reader.

Numeracy:  We've been partitioning 2 digit numbers this week, which has helped us work out addition calculations on our very own number lines.  Some of us have tried to draw our own. We realised that we don't always have to start our number line at 0 every time.

We love to play Hit the Button Games to help improve our times tables.  We are focusing on our 2x and 5x tables this week, so it would be great to have a go at home too.  Click here to go to the game.

Science:  We have begun to classify animals into groups of Mammals, Birds, Fish and Insects.  This means we have to think about whether the animals are cold or warm-blooded, have fur or scales, lay eggs or have live babies and live on land or in water.

Art:  We tried out the style of painting called 'pointillism', just like Georges Seurat used to do!
