Year 3 News: 30th November 2017

30th November 2017
Star of the Week:  Charley
Mathematician of the Week:  Rhys
Writer of the Week:  Sam F
Values Champion:  Scarlett

Numeracy:  We've been focusing on dividing and linking it to fractions.  We have used multiplication tables to help us find division where possible and splitting up 'cakes' into parts - yum!  That way, more children can have a part of the whole... and this is called fractions!

Literacy:  In our SPAG we have been thinking about word families such as 'vent' in adventure, venture, event and advent and have been thinking about what the root word might mean.  Our spellings are -ly suffix again but this time we've looked at the tricky exceptions to the rules such as: wholly, coyly, truly, slyly.  We have continued to write adventure stories, but this week we have made some exciting changes to the story we learnt last week.

Topic:  We have continued to look at roundhouses and hill forts in our Iron Age topic, as well as having looked into what the Celts wore and how they made their clothing.

We hope you will come and hear us sing at the Christmas Fayre this Saturday - we have been practising whilst also making some lovely decorations to sell.
