This week in year 3 we enjoyed World Book Day as we celebrated the good old bedtime story by wearing our pyjamas to school and sipping on some delicious hot chocolate whilst reading our favourite books.
In Literacy we wrote fact files about the Oompa-Loompas, where they originated from, why they moved to Wonka’s factory, who their predators are and what they do which makes them such fascinating characters. We also used our speaking and listening skills to take part in a ‘balloon debate’ where we had to argue in role as a literary character as to why we should stay in the balloon basket!
In maths we have been concentrating on data handling, the different ways of displaying data and how we can interpret it.
We have also been inventing our own characters to feature in Charlie and the Chocolate factory and drawing them in the style of Quentin Blake, in RE we have been learning about Hindu shrines, in Topic we have been learning all about Palm oil and what we can do to ensure its use is sustainable. In science we have been re-capping what conditions plants need to grow.
