Year 4 News: 3rd October 2019

3rd October 2019

Thank you to all those who supported our Macmillan Coffee Morning last Friday.  Although we don’t have a final total yet, we know it was a great success and believe it to be over £300 to send to this great cause. Thank you for your donations and for buying cakes at our sale.

Year 4 are busy rehearsing for the harvest festival which they will lead for the first time next week.  Many children have volunteered to read our Bible story and help lead the prayers.  Year 4 will also perform a collective piece to you in church.

In RE We have been looking at how people of the clergy help others.  We have found out that they do far more than lead church services and we know that they are a valued member of our communities.

Our maths work this week has focussed on looking for strategic ways of subtracting mentally.  We have practised estimating and have used a formal written method to calculate those that we couldn’t do quickly in our heads.

We are continuing to study the works of Leonardo DaVinci.  This week we have sketched horses using shapes to help us with the proportion, shape and size elements.
