Year 1 News: 9th February 2018

9th February 2018
Star of the Week:  Layla
Mathematician of the Week:  Rex
Writer of the Week:  Lily-Mae
Values Champion:  Natasha

LITERACY:  We have been learning about story structure, using Owl Babies as an example.  We found that stories have problems to make them interesting and after half term we are going to write our own animal story.  We have also been investigating verbs and plurals.

NUMERACY:  This week we have been counting in tens... we found it was MUCH quicker than counting in ones!

TOPIC:  We went to Africa on our travels this week and looked at the African Elephant.  We thought about why it might live there and how it survives in such a warm climate.

We have been missing lots of our friends as chicken pox has been doing the rounds in Year 1.  We welcomed Harrison back on Friday but are still missing Marcus, Isla and Benjy.  We hope they are feeling better and that they are back soon.

Well done to those who have been busy practising their spelling logs - congratulations to Lily-Mae who finished her Red Spelling Log this week!
