Year 4 News: 20th December 2018

20th December 2018

A quick apology from Mrs Ball and Mrs Hope. Please forgive us for our oversight in not posting Year Four news over the past couple of weeks. It has been an extremely busy time of year with lots going on (some of which we can’t share as it’s a surprise!) and we hope we can make it up to you by letting you know some of what we have been up to since you last heard from us.

In art we have studied the work of Leonardo da Vinci this term, sketching, painting, designing and sculpting. The children worked with clay last week to sculpt their own figurines. The results were excellent and the children will be bringing them home at the end of the week.

We are sure you all saw the pictures of our Christingle celebration. It was beautiful. Year Four were very thoughtful when making their Christingles, talking about the different elements and their meaning. They were also very sensible when we lit them and a super example to all the younger children. Earlier in the day, they collected the donations from each class inn their Christingle Childrens’ Society moneyboxes which they made from nets during David Morris Day.

In science we have explored how sound is produced, how it travels and how pitch and volume can be altered. We completed a variety of investigations to help us to understand.

We have been busy rehearsing for our Carol Service as Year Four take the lead and we are proud to say that every single member of the class has got involved.

The children have been practising their French conversation. They can ask and answer several questions. See if they will have a chat with you.

We have been truly spoilt by your kindness and generosity this Christmas and would like to thank you all for your gifts and good wishes. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch your children blossom this term and we look forward to all the exciting things we will be doing together next term.

A very happy Christmas to you all.

Mrs Ball and Mrs Hope
