At this point in the year, it is wonderful to reflect on all the success and progress that has been achieved. I am lucky to work alongside talented staff who are dedicated to ensuring that your children flourish in all aspects of their development. If there is one thing I ask of our staff in school, it is for them to care deeply about of the development of our children in school.

This year, we enjoyed our OFSTED inspection and we were pleased that our only development point was to monitor curriculum changes to a couple of our foundation subjects, which was already within our monitoring cycle. Our data collection evidences that we are above national standards for the percentage of children achieving a good level of development in reception and passing the phonics screening in Year 1. In addition to this, across school, our children collectively are working above national standards for age related expectations and greater depth across reading, writing and maths in every year group.
Beyond the academic progress, we are also committed to ensuring progress in children’s personal development. This year we have held focussed weeks during anti bullying week, children’s mental health week, science week and multi-cultural arts week. Themed days for skateboarding, Bollywood and Kapla (giant construction) have enhanced children’s experiences.
At this point of the year, we also say goodbye to members of staff and children. Miss Dancer leaves us to join Clifton upon Teme and has played a leading role in our curriculum project that has run across the last three years. Miss M-D also moves on for an exciting move to teach in Malysia. She has driven the opportunities for PE and sport for our children during her time in school. We wish them both the very best for the future. Our Year 4s and a few other children in different years also look forward to their transition with children moving to different schools across the local area and beyond for the next phase of their education. We are excited for them as they continue their learning journeys and wish them every success. Miss Tonks and Mr Mills joined us for our transition morning and are excited to add new ideas, thinking and approaches to our school.
A huge attraction to the school when I joined three years ago was the opportunity to work with and enhance the learning of our children. This remains at the heart of all we do and we are lucky to work with such incredible children. Thank you to them and to you for all your efforts this academic year. On behalf of staff and governors, we wish you a safe and restful summer and look forward to welcoming you back into school in September.
