Parents of Hanbury pupils with questions or concerns about their child’s wellbeing are being urged to take full advantage of a friendly get-together, being held in the school hall on Tuesday 25th November from 9am.
As part of the PINS Project (Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools), independent parent reps from Worcestershire’s Parent Carer Forum will be on hand to chat about experiences of support in school.
WPC offer support across the county and aim to bring families out of isolation. They use parental voices to influence change through events, discussion groups and working groups. They gather the views of local families and work with the council, educational settings, health providers and other agencies to highlight where local services are working well, or challenge when changes or improvements need to be made.
“Coffee, Cake and Conversation…” is a 2 hour drop-in event, where people with lived-experience of raising a young person with additional needs will be on hand to listen and offer support if needed.
A recent survey of Hanbury parents showed that families of those with additional needs can experience higher levels of anxiety. This relaxed event where their experts will be on hand in a familiar setting provides a brand new opportunity to benefit from their first-hand experience.
“The PINS project aims to influence SEND provision in years to come, so we need to take full advantage of being part of it,” explained Vicky Bishop, SEND Co-ordinator and Co-Headteacher.
”This event is the first at our school, so I would encourage anyone who is thinking it might be of interest to come along.
“Your child doesn’t have to be on the SEND register or have an EHCP,” added Miss Bishop. “There’s no need to book, just come along and share a cuppa along with your thoughts and questions!”
“We’re delighted to give our parents this opportunity as having concerns about your child can feel very isolating. We regularly tell our children that worries should be shared, so now it’s time to take some of our own good advice!”
