We’ve kicked off National School Sports Week 2025 in style, with a whole day of awesome activities!
Each class took turns to join Andy and Steve from Speedkix, who had lots of fun in store for us.
Zorbing was a huge hit (literally!) with lots of bouncing around, forward flips… and falling down all over the sports field! Nerf Battles pitted teams against each other, whilst slightly calmer activities like archery, tip the can, Connect 4 and giant Jenga gave groups the chance to get their breath back!
The day was made possible by funding from The Friends of Hanbury School, a fantastic group of volunteers whose latest event, FriendsFest took place last Friday.
PE Coordinator, Jamie Mills said: “The school has been buzzing with excitement all day! Speedkix have worked hard to help us support for National Schools Sports Week.”
The Youth Sports Trust and Sir Mo Farrah are challenging everyone to pledge minutes of activity, aiming for “60 minutes a day of PE, sport and play”.
“Every child had 60 minutes of physical exercise today and each one of them ended the hour feeling happy and healthy,” added Mr Mills.
“We’re trying to teach our children that sport is great for physical and mental wellbeing. If their smiling faces are anything to go by, we’ve gone a long way to doing that today!”
