This week has been an exciting milestone for our Reception children as they began learning to ride their bikes. For many of our youngest pupils, this was their very first experience of getting onto two wheels, and the playground has been full of smiles, laughter, and determination.
The sessions are designed to give the children the confidence to balance, steer, and pedal at their own pace. Staff have been on hand to encourage, guide, and, of course, cheer them on as they take those all-important first rides. It has been wonderful to see how quickly the children are picking up new skills and how proudly they celebrate each small step forward— whether it’s lifting their feet for the first time or managing a full lap without help.
Learning to ride a bike is not just about movement; it also helps develop coordination, resilience, and independence. Most importantly, it’s a chance for the children to experience the joy of trying something new in a safe and supportive environment.
We are so proud of their enthusiasm and perseverance already and can’t wait to see their cycling skills flourish over the coming weeks!
