Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic day out at Slimbridge Wetlands on Wednesday, the day was filled with sunshine, learning, and plenty of excitement.
During an engaging workshop, the children explored how different birds adapt to survive in their environments. They investigated real examples of beaks, feathers, and habitats, sparking lots of curiosity and great questions.
A highlight of the day was visiting the Arctic research hut, where the children discovered how scientists study birds that migrate from the Arctic tundra. We were lucky enough to spot some of these incredible migratory birds during our walk around the wetlands.
The class was also delighted to see the beautiful flamingos and watch an otter play in its enclosure. We ended our trip with a fun-filled session in Welly Boot Land. The children splashed through the streams, experimented with the dams, and worked together to change the flow of the water.
It was a wonderful day, and the children thoroughly enjoyed their adventure in the sunshine. As ever, the children's behaviour was brilliant and they represented our school well.
A special thank you to our volunteers for the day, Mrs Monks and Ms Champion.
