Reception took their learning out of the classroom yesterday and headed up the hill to visit church as part of their RE lesson.
We have been thinking about and sharing places that are special to us and learnt that church is a special place for Christians. Mrs Mol and Mrs Adams thought it would be a great idea to and have a look at all the parts of church which make it special and to think about why they are so important to the religion of Christianity.
Some children were able to share their experience of seeing photos of them at the font, forming a special part of their Christening service and all the children recognised the importance of the cross to Christians.
The children were in awe of the stained-glass windows and the beautiful patterns, pictures and colours depicting stories from the bible. We were able to have a look around and talk about how different parts of church are used for Christians to connect with God and have time to be in a calm and reflective space.
