Reception had an amazing ‘Gruffalo-themed’ day ay Buncroft Farm yesterday!
The walk there was lots of fun, and included climbing over stiles, which the children did all by themselves! They stopped off on the way to the farm to take part in some fun activities linking to the Gruffalo topic the children have been learning about at school.
First, they were challenged to find six, different coloured plants. They then made clay models of the Gruffalo and used the plants they had collected to add features such as purple prickles and orange eyes.
Everyone enjoyed feeding the goats (who were very good at climbing) and eating lunch together in the barn before heading back to school, stopping off on the way back to have some free time and take part in the ‘epic climbing challenge’ over three massive tree trunks in the field.
Finally, Reception stopped to say hello to a herd of cows (Mrs Harper was very happy as she loves cows) and used the church on the hill to lead us back to school.
Thank you to Heidi from the farm who organised the whole, fantastic day.
