Since joining the school in September, the children in Reception Class have already begun to spread their wings, thanks to some very special visitors.
As part of their learning around the book “Owl Babies” by Martin Waddell, the class met beautiful Barn and Great Grey Owls this week, cared for by Steve from Dinosaur Wildlife and Education. He even asked the owls to fly around the school hall in what was a truly jaw-dropping moment for everyone!
Those who wanted to, were invited to gently stroke the two birds’ feathers and were even given the opportunity to call them to land on their hand!
“We also had the chance to meet some other fascinating nocturnal animals and learn more about their lives and habits,” said Reception teacher, Verity Mills. “It was a fantastic, hands-on experience that brought our learning to life and will make reading ‘Owl Babies’ even more fun in the future!”
