Year 3 enjoyed a day full of cricketing fun yesterday, alongside 5 other local schools at Astwood Bank Cricket Club, thanks to the Worcestershire County Cricket Foundation.

Two teams took part in league matches during the morning, with one team progressing to the semi final stage after lunch.  After a valiant effort against the tournament’s eventual winners, they went on to win the 3/4th place play off.

As newcomers to the game, all the children showed fantastic progression, picking up the rules quickly and developing their batting, fielding and bowling skills.  Their team spirit and endurance when things got tough shone through, with the class returning as huge fans of the sport!

“As a follow up to today, we’re off to watch a match at Worcestershire County Cricket Ground in a few weeks,” said Class Teacher, Miss Tonks.

“I’m sure we’ll enjoy the chance to experience the atmosphere of a big match.  Who knows?  It could inspire our Year 3 players who’ve had so much fun today to aim high and play there one day too!“
