Year 4 visited Fladbury Paddle Club today, for their Bellboating Journey Day. Pupils came well prepared, bringing waterproof clothing, spare clothes and an array of snacks to keep their energy up.
After learning the basics of paddling and a few reminders for the adults steering the boats, the children took to the water. Despite one of the boats going of course at one point (unfortunately there is no photo evidence) the children did well and grasped the skill of paddling. Then, off to the locks. While the water levels were lowering, we enjoyed a lovely snack, relaxing on the river.
When we had achieved our morning goals, we headed for lunch and then rested up for the afternoon. After a short rest and some food, we headed back to the water. During the afternoon, the children took part in some races, tried some stand up paddling and finished with a game of tug of war. Despite a number of very wet children, it was a great day and we were very fortunate to have some lovely weather.
