31st December 2023
Christmas is always an exciting time, with so much going on throughout the Autumn term ahead of the big day in school, at church and in the wider community.
The 2023 Christmas Fayre, organised by The Friends was once again a resounding success and the perfect way to kick off the festivities. Stalls, games and a performance from the Young Voices Choir all helped to raise £3000! This, added to the many additional events and activities organised by the group of volunteers means their total so far this school year is a fantastic £5835.89 which supports activities, resources and experiences for all the children at school.
A fun-packed final week of term included a trip to The Swan Theatre followed a day later (oh yes it did!) to see Jack and the Beanstalk. The biggest compliment we could have received was given by a member of theatre staff who said Hanbury was the loudest audience she had ever seen! (Oh yes we were!).
To round off the term, Father Christmas came to see everyone during party day! With some help from The Friends funds, he brought some lovely gifts for everyone. Games, dancing, party poppers and crackers ensured everyone left for the holidays tired but excited for Christmas!
Reception and Year 2 took to the stage to perform the Nativity during December. Both classes showed they are all superstars as they delivered their Christmas stories in their own, unique style! Both “The Nativity” and “Whoops a Daisy, Angel!” were a roaring success, acted and sung with confidence and smiles all round, reminding us that no matter if you are Shepherd or a King, Jesus was born for you!
Our annual Christmas Service at Hanbury Church was led by the Year 4 children. In between their readings and stories, each class brought extra joy to the proceedings with a song.
The Hanbury Sports Crew unveiled the inaugural “Healthie Elfie Festival”. The team of Year 4 children organised a day filled with exciting activities celebrating health and holiday spirit!
Every class got the chance to take part in games out on the playground, fine tuning their festive fitness levels! Throwing Snowballs, a Reindeer Obstacle Course, Decoration Dancing and Cleaning Up After the Elves put their skills to the test as the children worked in teams or as individuals. The Christmas spirit continued with the Sports Crew giving gifts of house points to those who showed positivity, endurance and enthusiasm.
Christmas Jumper Day helped raise money for Save The Children, with donations made in return for coming to school in jolly jumpers!
