Today, Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a day of International Cricket as England and India U19s took to the field at Worcestershire’s famous New Road Ground.
For many, it was the first time at a live cricket match, so everyone was keen to understand the “ins and outs” of the rules! We all soon got to grips with the scoring system and even spotted some of the teams’ tactics!
We were treated to a dazzling batting display from India’s 14 year old IPL superstar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and the bowling talents of Rocky Flintoff who looks set to follow in his father, Freddie’s footsteps!
Both year groups have enjoyed a term of coaching from Worcestershire County Cricket experts, so the children were thrilled to be able to put their skills to the test on the training fields during the afternoon.
Whilst the game ended in defeat for England, it was inspiring to play games of Quick Cricket in front of the well-known Cathedral backdrop - maybe in years to come, one of us will be out there representing our county or country too!
