"I spend some time each week as a volunteer in our school, assisting children with their reading.

"It is always a great pleasure to visit the school and meet the dedicated hard-working staff and the wonderful children who are so enthusiastic about their learning and their school."

I have lived in the village of Hanbury for over thirty years and have been a governor of the school since 1999.  In my time as a Governor I have, over the years, taken on the role of Chair of various committees including that of Chair of Governors from 2001-2006 and again in 2015 until last year.  I have a wealth of experience of teaching in a variety of First and Primary schools in various parts of England.  I was Head Teacher of a large local First school for many years and then worked as an educational consultant and assessor.

Since my retirement, I have enjoyed many activities and hobbies.  I have been on many fantastic motor-bike tours through parts of Europe and Asia. I enjoy regular skiing holidays in Europe and love walking in Britain. When I am at home, I support vulnerable adults in my work as a volunteer advocate for a charity.  I do a shift each week in a local community shop and, as one of my favourite activities, I spend some time each week as a volunteer in our school, assisting children with their reading.

I feel it is a privilege to be part of the Governing Body of a school such as Hanbury C. of E. First School. The school is a very special place with all the staff, parents and governors working together to ensure each child feels secure and happy in a lovely environment.  The children’s achievements are celebrated and they are able to make good progress socially, intellectually, emotionally and physically.  It is always a great pleasure to visit the school and meet the dedicated hard-working staff and the wonderful children who are so enthusiastic about their learning and their school.
