Reception

Hello and welcome to Reception's page.  Mrs Mills is the Class Teacher - she is supported by Teaching Assistant, Mrs Mol.  We love it when Mrs Harper comes to say hello too!

We are very busy in Reception learning lots of new skills and solving problems.

We enjoy singing and dancing activities and making lots of things with junk!! We use our outdoor environment as much as possible where we learn and play in the various areas such as construction, water and den building.

We love reading books and enjoy social time with our friends when we get to chat and tell stories about our home and families. We have daily phonics and maths lessons and learn about the world through our topics.

Once we have settled in, we go on forest school every week. Here we enjoy climbing trees, exploring the natural environment and learning to challenge ourselves. Afterwards we have hot chocolate and sometimes make a fire. On these occasions we like to toast marshmallows and cook sausages for a well earned sandwich!

Our 6 core Christian Values are taught from the start of Reception and the children learn about these through their play and in discreet teaching of SMSC and Religious Education. Our values are Friendship, Respect, Endurance, Forgiveness, Kindness and Compassion and Trust. These values have great importance at Hanbury and help the children to understand how to behave, follow rules and build strong friendships.
