We have thoroughly enjoyed our week learning more about the diverse world we live in, within our community and beyond. The children have explored focus countries and shared their learning with the school. Miss Mubeen also led wonderful workshops. Children enjoyed learning all about her culture including: religion, traditional dress as well as sampling some amazing food! A huge thank you to Miss Mubeen.
Reception looked at Spanish culture for multi-cultural arts week. They studied the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, tried some authentic Spanish tapas and performed a flamenco dance for the rest of the school!
Year 1 had a Greek food tasting session. They tried olives, flat breads, feta cheese and tzatziki.  They also designed their own Greek vases, created straw versions of the Parthenon and learned about the Greek Alphabet!
Year 2 took a virtual trip to Mexico, learning about Cinco de Mayo and made tambourines like the ones used to celebrate this special day in the calendar.  They also made their own guacamole and created their own Frida Kahlo-inspired artwork.
Year 3 enjoyed a morning pizza making! As they celebrated all things Italian they explored and recreated art work in the style of Giuseppe Arcimboldo and researched Italy as a country as a whole.
Year 4 have learned about the geography of Canada; the worlds 2nd largest country.  It has 6 time zones and is bordered by 3 oceans!  They created art in the style of Emily Carr, Canada's most famous artist, and cooked themselves some delicious poutine! To finish the week off, year 4 created musical tributes to the land of Canada - some children made raps, some did presentations and some did pop songs!
