The whole School was struck by awe and wonder as we focussed on the wonderful world of discovery during British Science Week, 2024.
Every day, children in each class enjoyed a science activity, including searching for microhabitats, making milkbottle music and even setting fire to a model Pudding Lane!
Staff and pupils were invited to dress up on Thursday, celebrating an interest in different areas of science, technology, engineering and maths. It was great to see so many different costumes!
Throughout the day, classes moved around the school to complete a science activity or investigation with each member of staff. From "walking on eggshells", blowing super-strong bubbles and stretching Curly Wurlies to creating fossils and engineering a marshmallow tower... there was plenty to prove that science is for everyone!
To end the week, we welcomed 2 special guests who use science in their work - as an anaesthetist and a physiotherapist!
Hanbury Science Lead, Amy Fey was delighted with how inspirational their visit was:
"We were very lucky to hear from the parents of 2 of our children who were not only terrific at explaining their jobs, but were also incredibly inspirational!
"The week was full of ideas and the children really enjoyed investigating, predicting and being amazed in their learning!"
