Reception had a great day at Churchfields Farm yesterday.
The class were shown around by Steve and Bobby who took them on a tour of the farm. Along the way, they saw the herd of Highland cows and were lucky enough to see two calves- one was only 2 days old.
After learning about the products humans get from cows, a visit to the dairy, gave the children a chance to see (and taste!) some ice cream being made.
They learnt about the ingredients needed to make ice cream and saw the giant freezer where it is stored. It was -28 degrees, so a hasty exit meant the last stop on the tour was to visit the rooms where the salt is collected. The drying room was a lot warmer than the freezer!
The only thing left to do was dodge the showers, play on the park and enjoy exchanging good manners for a scoop of ice cream. The most popular flavour was the blue bubble-gum!
All of the staff commented on how well Reception behaved on our trip. The teachers were incredibly proud of how well the children represented our school.
