It has been wonderful to see the children so engaged in this year's Multi-Cultural Arts Week, celebrating the rich and diverse arts, traditions and cultures from around the world.
Across the school, pupils have enjoyed exploring music, dance, food and creative activities inspired by different countries, helping to broaden their understanding and appreciation of the wider world.

The children in preschool have been learning all about Australia this week. We have looked at the different Australian animals and made our own Great Barrier Reef using lots of creative materials, we have listened to stories, painted vibrant flags and enjoyed making our own fairy bread which is an Australian party food.

The children have also enjoyed our main book this week "Whose egg is that?" by Darrin Lunde. A giant egg arrived in preschool, and we made lots of predictions about whose egg it could be.

In Reception, the children have shown great enthusiasm exploring and researching all things French. They sampled delicious pan au chocolate during snack time and learnt some new French words and phrases. As part of our topic, we also studied the artist Henri Matisse and created some fantastic artwork inspired by his colourful and creative style.
Year 1 focused on Brazil for multi-cultural arts week, to support their topic of Peru, after learning that the countries were next to each other.  They learned about the Amazon Rainforest, Samba music, and carnivals. After making their our own carnival masks and practising our own samba dance, the children really enjoyed sharing their very own carnival in worship on Friday afternoon!
Year 2 explored the culture and traditions of Japan through a range of creative activities. The children enjoyed learning about Japanese art and food by making their own origami creations and preparing sushi. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills, celebrate another culture, and have lots of fun together.
Year 3 explored the culture and geography of Ghana during multicultural arts week. The children learned about life in Ghana, located the country on a map and created their own colour Kente cloth-inspired patterns using patterns and meaningful colours.
Year 4 explored Native America culture. We made our own fry bread and explored different foods they would eat. The children also created their own totem pole designs, sketching and painting their own. Finally, they tried out Powwow dancing and some of the class shared their own interpretations with school.
