We have had another exciting week in year 1 this week. On Monday we had a new classroom carpet delivered to our room and everybody now has a lovely comfy carpet spot. We've enjoyed looking for signs of autumn around our school and went on a sense hunt to explore what we could see, hear, feel and smell around our school.

In class we made pictures of our faces using different materials to add a range of textures to our pictures. We have been making picture frames to put our portraits in using pasta shapes to add patterns to our frames. We left them out to dry and when we came back from playtime they had all been turned silver. We have also been busy learning our harvest song, retelling our class story in the tuff tray using block puppets and playing a senses matching game.

In maths we have been learning how to use the crocodile signs to show when numbers are greater ">" or less  "<" than each other. We found some numbers which are the same and learned that we can use the equals sign "=" to show this because equal means 'the same'.

In writing we have been learning how to stretch out our sounds to make words. Sometimes it's easy to get confused and put lots of extra sounds into your word - we've been learning how to use our robot arms to count the sounds we hear and adding to sound buttons to our writing to check we have the same number for both.
On Saturday 12th October, Jonah and his family will be walking 10 miles from Worcester Royal Hospital to Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club to raise awareness for The Pulmary Fibrosis Trust.
