Year 2 News: 12th December 2019

12th December 2019
We have had a lovely week in Year 2, mixing some super work with plenty of Christmas cheer!

Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has donated items to go in our box for the Droitwich Foodbank.  We are trying very hard to help the children see they can make a real difference in our world so we really appreciate your support.  More donations are very welcome before they are collected on Monday 16th Dec.

Numeracy:  We have been delving into shape this week, thinking about what we already know and expanding our knowledge even further.  We have looked at the properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes and the differences between them.

Literacy:  We were all very relieved to find out that (spoiler alert!) Jemima Puddle-Duck survived her meeting with the Sandy-whiskered Gentleman!  We all tried very hard to write a description of the fox, using evidence from the story to back up our ideas.  We also used apostrophes to show when words have been contracted or when they are possessive.

Monday's Forest School was super-soggy but lots of fun!  We LOVED splashing in the puddles and squelching in the mud!

The trip to the pantomime on Tuesday was great fun!  We loved seeing Mr Payne up on stage with the Dame and had a brilliant time singing and clapping along to the show.

We have also been busy creating calendars and Christmas cards which we hope you will love!  Singing practice for next week's church service has also been lots of fun.
