Year 2 News: 19th October 2017

19th October 2017
Star of the Week:  Theo
Mathematician of the Week:  Harry
Writer of the Week:  Ethan
Values Champion:  Ashley
5 x Readers for this half term:  Lilly, Archie, Ashley and Louis
We are very proud of our 5 x Readers - they have read at home at least 5 times a week, for 5 consecutive weeks... WOW!
A very big well done to everyone who has continued to work on completing their Spelling Logs too.  A special mention goes to Bella - she has completed her yellow spellings!
LITERACY:  After creating our own superheroes and villains, we have been busy writing our own stories this week.  We have met some wonderful characters, including Samantha's "Weather Girl",  who freezes the baddie and saves the day!
NUMERACY:  We have been learning about 'exchanging' this week, and how it can help us with our addition and subtraction.  We used base 10 equipment to show how we can exchange a whole 10 for 10 ones - Miss Jones was incredibly impressed!
ART:  We have been using pastels to help us create a background on what will be our Great Fire of London pictures.  We thought about the kind of colours that we would need and used our fingers to make different effects on the paper.
E-SAFETY:  We discussed DigiDuck's dilemma again and talked more about online safety.  You can find the story we have been reading, along with lots of other resources about e-safety on our Computing and E-Safety Curriculum page.
Finally, Miss Jones would like to say thank you to Year 2 for a terrific start to the term - have a lovely break.
