Mathematician of the Week:  Oliver Sw
Writer of the Week: James

SCIENCE WEEK:  Kicked off by learning about solids, liquids and gases. The children became atoms of each, moving around as they do. We conducted an experiment to blow up a balloon using just vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.

We were visited by fizzpop where we made our own rockets and learned about air pressure, air resistance and aerodynamics! Best of all we watched a water and pyrotechnic rocket launch outside!

Other science work this week included: seasonal changes, making bouncy balls and cookery.

NUMERACY:  We're working on subtracting using different mental and written methods. We've had to look carefully at the numbers to decide which methods might be more efficient.

LITERACY:  we've started planning our own stories about a rescue in a storm. We're trying to include lots of interesting adjectives and adverbs to create an atmosphere in our settings. Amongst many other things, we're also trying to include a similie to help create a powerful image of the storm.
