This week in year 3 we have enjoyed making a Christingle and we now know that the orange represents the world, a candle pushed into the centre of the orange, then lit, represents Jesus Christ as Light of the World. A red ribbon wrapped around the orange or a paper frill around the candle, represents the blood of Christ and dried fruits and/or sweets skewered on cocktail sticks pushed into the orange, represent the fruits of the earth and the four seasons.
In RE we also finished making our ‘acts of kindness’ advent calendars. We thought about lots of ways we can help others and make people smile as we countdown to Christmas. You can look forward to us helping more at home!
In Literacy this week we had a visit from the God Neptune. He told us all about himself and then we used this knowledge to produce Fact sheets about common Roman beliefs. We used collage materials to really make our work stand out! We also made brochures to advertise our fantastic state of the art Roman Bathhouses!
In maths this week, we used our knowledge of subtraction and addition and completed tricky word problems.
In PE we completed the Worcestershire School Games activities. Please remember to enter the Poetry contest uploaded to seesaw. The deadline for this is the 4th December and there are lots of prizes to be won!
On Friday we took part in on-site Forest School with Alfred’s mum!
