Year 4 News: 2nd May 2019

2nd May 2019
We hope that you have all had a restful Easter break and enjoyed the holiday.

We came back to school on Monday to find a digger outside the classroom and foundations dug for the new office and our classroom extension.  It has been rather noisy but it has been interesting to see the building work close up.

In literacy, we have been thinking about our views and opinions about homework.  We have listened to lots of opinions and justifications, and debated whether or not we think it is a good or bad thing.  We have looked at the features of an unbalanced report and will be studying a balanced one next week.  Ask us about our opinions on the topics we will be discussing.

On Wednesday, we travelled  to Aston Fields Middle School to take part in the year 4 sports transition afternoon.  A great time was had by all trying out different sports and activities whilst meeting other children who will be transferring to middle school in September.

We have started our new topic for the Summer term, All Around the Earth.  This is a geography based study with lots of opportunities to learn about polar regions, life close to the equator and how climate is different.

We look forward to seeing you at our parent’s meeting on Tuesday where will be be sharing information about the exciting term ahead and further transition activities.  We also have our residential meeting on Tuesday after school to talk to you more about our fast approaching visit to Malvern Outdoor Elements.
